Corporate video production: a practical guide for modern brands

Corporate video doesn't have to be stiff or forgettable. Here's a practical guide to the types of corporate video companies need, how production works, and how to make yours worth watching.

Corporate video production: a practical guide for modern brands

"Corporate video" has a reputation problem. Many people picture stock footage, a slow piano track and a CEO reading from a teleprompter.

It doesn't have to be that way. Done well, corporate video production is one of the most useful investments a company can make: it explains what you do, shows who you are, helps you hire, and gives your team content they can use for years.

Here's a practical guide to getting it right.

What counts as corporate video?

Corporate video is any video a company makes to communicate about itself, rather than to sell a single product. The most common types:

  • Company introduction / brand film: who you are, what you do and why it matters. Usually the video on your homepage.
  • Recruitment and employer branding: what it's like to work with you, for careers pages and LinkedIn.
  • Internal communication: onboarding, announcements, training and culture videos for your own team.
  • Event and conference videos: openers, stage visuals, recaps and highlight reels.
  • Investor and partner presentations: clear, visual stories for pitches and reports.
  • Explainers and process videos: how your service works, step by step.
  • Case studies and testimonials: real clients telling real stories.

Why most corporate videos are forgettable

The usual problems are easy to spot:

  1. Too much to say. The video tries to cover every service, value and milestone.
  2. Written for the company, not the viewer. Lots of "we," very little about why the audience should care.
  3. Generic visuals. Handshakes, laptops and city skylines that could belong to anyone.
  4. Too long. A three-minute video where ninety seconds would do.
  5. One version for every channel. A horizontal homepage video forced into vertical social feeds.

None of these are budget problems. They're decisions made, or not made, before production starts.

The corporate video production process

1. Define the job of the video

What should someone think, feel or do after watching? Apply for a job. Understand our service. Trust us enough to book a call. One video, one job.

2. Find the idea

Even corporate video needs a concept, a single thought that makes it yours. A company that helps people move faster might show the world speeding up around them. A sustainability brand might show the story backwards, from forest to product. (More on this in Prompts are not ideas.)

3. Script, storyboard and plan

Keep it short. For most corporate videos, 60–90 seconds is enough for the main version, with shorter cut-downs for social.

4. Production: filmed, AI or hybrid

This is where today's options matter most:

  • Filmed is the right choice for real people: founders, employees, clients, testimonials and events.
  • AI-generated works well for concepts, metaphors, product worlds and visuals that would be expensive or impossible to film.
  • Hybrid is often the strongest: real people on camera, combined with AI-built scenes that give the video scale and personality.

We compare the approaches in detail in AI video vs. traditional production.

5. Post-production and versions

Editing, color, sound design, captions and motion graphics. Then the master is cut into every format you need: a homepage version, vertical versions for social, short teasers and, if needed, subtitled versions in other languages.

Corporate video ideas that work

If you're not sure where to start, these formats tend to perform well:

  • A 60-second brand film for your homepage and LinkedIn
  • "A day at…" recruitment videos made with your real team
  • One-minute explainers for each core service
  • Event openers with bold, AI-built visuals for the big screen
  • Short client stories, told in the client's own words
  • Founder notes: a simple, honest message to camera, well lit and well edited

How AI is changing corporate video

For corporate teams, AI-powered video production mostly means three things:

  • More visual ambition without a large shoot budget
  • Faster turnaround, especially for events and launches with fixed dates
  • Easier versioning: formats, lengths and languages from a single master

It doesn't replace authenticity. When a video is about real people, film real people, and use AI to build everything around them.

Before you brief a studio

Prepare the goal, the audience, where the video will be used, your timeline and budget range, brand guidelines and a few references. Our brief template covers everything in one page. And for a broader look at what studios offer, see Video production services: what you actually get.

The short version

Good corporate video production is focused: one job, one idea, the right length, and the right format for every channel. Combine real people with bold visuals, and corporate video stops being something people sit through and becomes something they remember.
